Faucets and Sinks

  • Even small drips can waste thousands of gallons of water! Be sure to check under sinks for moisture or small leaks. And always repair leaky faucets right away to avoid paying for wasted water, and also to avoid water damage to your fixtures and pipes.

  • Remove and clean your faucet aerators annually to ensure an even flow of water.

  • Make sure overflow holes on tubs and vanity are clear and open.
Water Heaters
  • Before doing any maintenance on your water heater yourself, be sure to read your owner's manual and ALL Safety Labels on you water heater.

  • At least once a year, completely drain the water from the tank.

  • Over time sediment builds at the bottom of the heater, which can hamper performance of your water heater. Draining and flushing your water heater helps remove the sediment.

  • Again be sure to read your owners manual and ALL Safety Labels before doing attempting to work on your water heater.
Toilets
  • Toilet leaks or a running toilet can be wasteful and expensive.

  • If your toilet becomes clogged, attempt to plunge it 3 or 4 times; if the blockage does not clear, give us a call to clear the blockage with special tooling. By plunging many times this may cause the blockage to become lodged beyond removal.

  • We highly recommend for your new and older home using a toilet tissue/paper that says “safe for septic”. You want a toilet paper that will dissolve quickly when it touches the water. This will help prevent possible clogs in your toilet and your sanitary sewer lines.
ClogsHome_039.jpg
  • To help prevent clogs, fit all your tubs and shower drains with a strainer that catches hair and soap chips, and clean the strainer regularly.

  • Do not rinse fats or cooking oils down the kitchen sink. Liquid fats solidify in the pipes and create clogs; even if you use hot water.

  • Avoid using caustic liquid drain openers on any drain. The caustic ingredients are trapped in your pipes, and it can severely damage them. If you can’t snake the drain yourself, contact us for your drain cleaning needs...

  • I highly recommend using “BIO-CLEAN”. This is a very “Green” product that is made of friendly bacteria and enzymes. With all of the anti-bacterial products we all use these days; these product are killing the good bacteria we need in our sanitary sewer lines. “BIO-CLEAN” produces and re-grows the good bacteria and enzymes we need; that eats grease and soap scum. We carry a supply of product on our trucks.

  • No acid or caustic liquid or powered drain cleaning product will work on hair. If it is strong enough to work on hair it could cause damage to your sanitary drainage system.
Garbage Disposal
  • You can extend the life of your garbage disposal by:

  • Using plenty of cold water when running it and slowly feed you food debris into disposer

  • Never disposing of things like bones or corn husks

  • Never using an acid or caustic drain cleaner.
